Tesway long range electric bikes combine large battery capacity, dual motor power, and versatile riding performance for commuting, outdoor routes, hills, and daily use.
Some Tesway riders may find that their display shows speed in MPH by default. For riders in Canada, Europe, Australia, and other metric regions, KM/H is much easier to read and match with local road rules.
On the Tesway display manual, the mileage unit setting is listed as 02P, where 0 means KM and 1 means MILE. The default value is 1, which means the display may show MPH when you first receive the bike.
Before You Start
Make sure the bike is fully stopped before entering the display settings. The Tesway manual says custom parameter settings should be adjusted while the vehicle is stationary. This helps avoid mistakes and keeps the rider safe while changing the display values.
You only need to change one setting: 02P.
Do not randomly change other settings such as voltage, wheel size, speed limit, current limit, or low voltage protection. These settings can affect how the bike reads speed, controls power, and protects the battery.
Step 1: Turn On the Display
First, power on the Tesway display as normal.
Wait until the main screen is shown. The screen should show your battery level, speed, pedal assist level, and mileage information.
Before entering the settings menu, make sure the speed shows 0. The bike should not be moving.
Step 2: Enter the Custom Parameter Menu
To enter the custom parameter menu, press and hold the plus and minus buttons at the same time for more than two seconds.
After holding both buttons, the display should enter the parameter setting interface. This is where you can adjust display options such as brightness, mileage unit, voltage, sleep time, assist level, wheel size, and more.
Some riders have mentioned on Reddit that this menu can feel confusing at first, especially when trying to find the MPH to KM/H setting. The key thing to remember is simple: you are looking for 02P.
Step 3: Find the 02P Setting
Once you are inside the parameter menu, use the function button to move through the setting options.
The setting you need is:
-
02P Mileage Unit Setting
-
This setting controls whether the display uses metric or imperial units.
-
The values are:
-
0 = KM
-
1 = MILE
When the display is set to 1, it will show speed in MPH and distance in miles. To switch the display to KM/H, change the value from 1 to 0.
Step 4: Change 02P from 1 to 0
When you reach 02P, use the plus or minus button to adjust the value.
Change the value to:
0
This tells the display to use kilometers instead of miles.
After this change, the speed display should show KM/H, and the mileage display should use kilometers as well.
Step 5: Save the Setting
After changing 02P to 0, short press the function button to save the setting and move to the next option.
To exit the settings menu, long press the function button. This should save all settings and return the display to the main screen.
Once you are back on the main display, check the speed unit. It should now show KM/H instead of MPH.
What If the Display Asks for a Password?
Some Tesway riders may see a password screen before they can enter or change the parameter menu. This was also mentioned in the Reddit discussion, where the rider could not get past the settings password at first.
According to the Tesway display manual, the menu password setting is listed as 21P, and the default menu password is 1313.
So, when the display asks for a menu password, try:
1313
Use the plus and minus buttons to adjust each number. Use the function button to move to the next digit. After entering the full password, the display should allow access to the settings menu.
Quick Summary
To change a Tesway display from MPH to KM/H:
-
Power on the display.
-
Make sure the bike is stopped and the speed shows 0.
-
Hold the plus and minus buttons together for more than two seconds.
-
Enter the custom parameter menu.
-
Find 02P.
-
Change the value from 1 to 0.
-
Save and exit.
-
Check that the display now shows KM/H.
Important Reminder
Only change the mileage unit setting unless you know exactly what the other settings do. The display menu includes advanced options such as voltage, wheel diameter, speed limit, drive mode, controller current, and low voltage value.
Changing the wrong setting may affect riding performance or make the display show incorrect speed or distance data.
For most riders, the only setting needed is 02P. Set it to 0, save the change, and your Tesway display should switch from MPH to KM/H.
